All about Me

Hello my name is Shelley Ganschow and I am the 3rd grade teacher in room 10 at Addison Elementary School.
This is my ninth year of teaching 3rd grade at Addison and I love it. I know this year's class, the class of 2006-2007, will also be perfect.
Some of the things I like to do in my free time are going to the movies, eating out at restaurants, walking in the Santa Cruz Mountains, playing ping pong, listening to music, socializing with friends, reading assorted books like Harry Potter, and traveling anywhere and everywhere.
One of my favorite places in the world is Giverny in France. I am an impressionist enthusiast; therefore, Claude Monet and Vincent Van Gogh are my favorite painters. This picture was taken in Monet's Garden in 1995 while my husband and I were on our honeymoon.

I also love to go the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Sea otters are one of my favorite animals and the aquarium always makes me happy and relaxed.
My mom was extremely active in my schooling by being the PTA president and homeroom parent. She did many art activities in my classes when I was a child.
These memories are some of my most vivid of school. She taught me to be a person who treats people equally and fairly. My dad taught me the value of hard work and that I could accomplish anything I set my mind to doing. People say I look like my dad.

When I was little I thought I would be a lion trainer at Marine World. As you can see, my career ambitions changed a little since my own elementary school experience.

My sister is an accountant at Brown Adams in Palo Alto. We are close and see each other at least every other week. She makes delicious fruit pies and she loves Eeyore.
My husband is my best friend and soul mate. Having been together since the young age of 15, we probably know more about each other than we do about ourselves. He teaches English and Journalism at Los Gatos High School.
Our first baby was named Sugar and she was, of course, just as sweet. She was a Doberman/Rottweiler mix. She loved to be brushed, to play with squeaky toys, and to go for walks. She passed away in 2004.

Beau and Monti are the newest addition to our family. Thanks to an Addison family, we heard about these perfect Bichons and adopted them. The are exactly opposite of our first dog. Both boys love licking faces, sleeping and cuddling on the couch. These boys hate to be brushed, never play with toys, (except for the occasional hanger) have curly hair, and are small and white. They always make a class visit sometime during the school year, and I guarantee they will kiss and jump all over everyone.
