TYPICAL HOMEWORK IN ROOM 8
Second graders prepare their own homework folders on Mondays (or the first day of the week) by writing the assignments on the front and including the papers inside. Homework is due by Fridays of each week.Contact the teacher early in the week if there are any questions about the homework.
Homework is supposed to be a time when students work independently. However, some students (and for some assignments), need help in understanding what to do. If your child frequently needs your help, or you have other questions about homework, please talk with the teacher.
Homework in second grade is a time to develop homework habits, time management and a way to practice skills. If you have any questions, the sooner you talk with the teacher, the better. This way your child will develop positive habits.
Since this is a habit-developing experience, please help make sure that homework is completed each week, and is turned in on time.
Homework
activities may include:
- Writing Practice in homework journal
- Math, Spelling, Reading, Science, Health, Social Studies
- Daily Reading at Home--Times varies throughout year
- Recommended time: 30-45 minutes, 4 days/week
- Birthday Pass --No homework on Birthday Week! (Summer birthdays celebrated during school year, toward end of the year.)
- Homework is checked in class, and will not be sent home in the Friday Folder.
- Watch for "Sign and Return" items.
