Dear First Grade Families,
I would like to enthusiastically
welcome you to Room 4! Your first graders are going to have a
wonderful learning experience this year. Students will enjoy reading
independently, with a partner and in small groups. They will write
on a variety of topics, eventually publishing some of their pieces
and sharing these in the Author's Chair. They will engage in exciting
hands-on math and science activities. Students will also go on
several field trips related to concepts being taught. Field trips
are an important part of your child's education because they provide
opportunities to help students make connections between what they
are learning and how this knowledge is relevant in the real world.
Parent involvement will contribute to your child's success in school. Let's work together to ensure that your child has a positive school experience. I will keep you informed about your child's successes so you can celebrate with us, and I will also let you know if your child is experiencing any difficulties so we can work on a solution together. Please call me if you have any questions and/or concerns. I would be happy to meet with you in person or talk with you on the phone. Also, I welcome your help and invite you to participate in your child's school day, if your schedule allows. Please let me know if you are available to share a talent or hobby with our class or volunteer in our classroom or on a field trip or if you'd simply like to visit our classroom!
