 Spelling List  Due Dates  Expectations Rules & Procedures

Remember to bring your homework to school every day.

** Book Report due Wednesday, January 31st
*** Valentine’s Day is coming up.  If you plan to give Valentines please use the class list to ensure proper spelling of classmates names.  Make sure to include all classmates.

Monday:

  1. Read at least 15 minutes.  Record the information in your reading log.
  2. Begin Lesson 14 in Wordly Wise.  The unit is due on Thursday including Lesson E!
  3. P.O.W. Challenge (Optional Extra Credit): Read the Problem of the Week (POW).  Start working on the problem, and continue to work on it throughout the week.  Be sure to clearly explain your solution and strategy on the POW sheet.  Use any combination of pictures, numbers, and words in your explanation.  Be prepared to share and explain your strategy with Mrs. Brown’s group on Friday.

Tuesday:

  1. Read at least 15 minutes.  Record the information in your reading log. 
  2. Book reports are due tomorrow – be sure to double-check your work for tomorrow.

Wednesday:

  1. Read at least 15 minutes.  Record the information in your reading log.
  2. Study for tomorrow’s Wordly Wise test; be sure to study for both spelling and vocabulary meanings.  Remember lesson E is due tomorrow.

Thursday:

    1.  Read at least 15 minutes.  Record the information in your reading log.
    2. Complete the math review page. Show all your work.  Estimate each problem FIRST and check your division using multiplication.

Homework Rules and Procedures

Homework assignments for the entire week will be given out on Mondays. Each nights' homework will be due the following morning. There will be no homework assigned over weekends, however there maybe make-up, or unfinished work to be completed. 

In preparation for the nature of the work expected of students in 4th grade,  students will be assigned many long-term projects. Time management will weigh heavy during these projects. We will be practicing how to manage time and materials in order to complete these long term projects. Homework will vary in type and amount during the projects depending upon where each student is and what rate they work at.

In general the homework is designed to take between 30 - 90 minutes each night. Different nights and different students will vary. If your child consistently takes much longer, please talk to me about strategies or possible modifications to make it manageable. If you find your child consistently taking much less time to complete homework, please monitor it for quality, detail and depth.

There are several important ways you can help your child with his/her homework:

 

Weekly homework will be graded on a 4 point scale.
