Stop the Train
by Geraldine McCaughrean

This story is set during the Oklahoma land rush in 1893.  A group of settlers get off the train in Florence, Oklahoma only to discover there is no town!  It is up to them to create their town from nothing.  After lots of hard work their town slowly begins to take shape.  But the railroad suddenly decides it will no longer make a stop in Florence. They realize their town won't survive unless they get the train to make regular stops.  Read the story to discover if they succeed!

This is one of my newest favorite books because each character has his or her own unique personality and dilemma.  The author brings them to life with much humor.  I also learned a lot about the Oklahoma land rush.

Anybody who likes historical fiction that is interesting and funny will like this book.
